Imagine the many times you might of thought “I just don’t know what to wear today” well owning a Batsuit would have made a unique addition to your daily wardrobe. Batman keeps the streets of Gotham City safe from crime and villainy.
One of the most extraordinary things about Batman is this: Despite the fact that he’s a superhero, he doesn’t actually posses any super powers. Batman uses ingenuity, deception and clever gadgetry to give him an edge over Gotham’s criminal element. Nothing instills fear in the hearts of Gotham’s wrongdoers more than Batman’s menacing appearance, and that appearance is all about the Batsuit.
Better known as a maker of wireless and network switching products, D-Link is making its first foray into GSM phones with the V-CLICK – a dual mode phone powered by a Linux operating system.
The V-CLICK will switch between Wi-Fi and GSM or GPRS networks at the click of a button, says D-Link, and will be ‘unlocked’, so users should be able to use it with any SIM card.
But what appears to distinguish it from other dual mode offers is its use of open source software. It supports the Opera Mobile browser for on the road web surfing, so is aimed clearly at users who want an alternative to Microsoft’s mobile vision.
Rob Bamforth, mobile analyst with research company Quocirca, says there’s no reason why such a phone should only be a ‘tool for geeks’, but fears D-Link’s problem could be its lack of track record in the competitive mobile device market.
We’re still not sure when Cingular is going to get that 750 hotness, but it doesn’t look like us Stateside peeps will have to wait too terribly long to get some antenna-free Treo action.
Palm, in a recent earnings call, confirmed that there will be more info “in the coming weeks” in regards to a new “price sensitive” Treo, due for 20 networks worldwide in a few months. Lucky for us, it looks to be that oft-rumored Lowrider phone — at least according to the rumors currently being mongered — with the same form-factor as the 750v, but a VGA camera and no 3G data.
