Locked ComputerSeveral online forums that have posted thousands of images of child pornography have been taken off of three separate internet providers – said New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. Two of the servers were some of the nation’s largest providers.

These new agreement were enforced by child-welfare advocates in order to push service providers to do more to monitor the things that people do on their servers and to prevent people from posting this kind of horrible images. While this helps to push horrible people off the internet it may also go against the First Amendment – free speech.

Windows 7People who attended the Gates/Ballmer interview during the D6 conference were given a sneak peek at the up and coming Windows 7 – which is scheduled to be delivered to consumers in late 2009. In the demo they showed the full screen multi-touch interface that is embedded in the operating system. There was also a demo of the Surface-like application that is used to organize photos.

Microsoft OfficeThe European Commission will be investigating Microsoft’s new plan that will allow its Office software to edit and save files in a rival format. The EU is skeptical on whether or not the ability for Microsoft to support Open Document Formats in Office will give consumers a fair choice.

“The Commission will investigate whether the announced support of Open Document Format in Office leads to better interoperability and allows consumers to process and exchange their documents with the software product of their choice,” the commission said in a statement reported by Dow Jones.
