This week Yale University performed a real-world internet test that showed results that were both dramatic and drastic. “Intelligent” peer-to-peer traffic can drastically lower network utilization and speed up downloads for subscribers. Verizon was one of the many that participated in the research study and stated that they will be releasing the details this week at the Distributed Computing Industry Association’s P2P Market Conference in New York City.

Yahoo will be discontinuing their online music and media company – Yahoo Music Unlimited due to its lack of popularity. When users try to access the site they will be re-directed to Rhapsody America – a partner of MTV Networks. From this site they will be able to access music, downloads, internet radio, and videos.
Data from comScore Media Metrix shows that the subscription service has managed to rake in just 400,000 customers. Yahoo senior vice president Scott Moore explained the decision to sell the service by saying that the company “made a strategic decision to focus on the mass audience.”
