Poggenpohl, Germany’s oldest furniture brand will be equipping over 1,600 apartmenrs with luxury kitchens. They will start in 2008 and be placing modern kitchens on a floor space of 25 square meters in the Venetian Wadi Walk. These apartments are planned for the “City of Arabia”, which is stll under construction.
The concept for the two-billion-dollar “City of Arabia” project was developed by the Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group Dubai. A new city is being constructed on an area of 1.85 square kilometres with four components: “Mall of Arabia”, one of the world’s largest shopping centres; “Restless Planet”, a gigantic dinosaur theme park; “Wadi Walk”, a Mediterranean-inspired residential district with apartments, shops and cafés around a palm-lined canal; and “Elite Towers”, 34 towers with offices, hotels and dwellings.
The “City of Arabia” will be home to as many as 40,000 people and lies embedded in the Dubailand international tourist attraction. The Emirate of Dubai is expecting 15 million tourists for 2010. Poggenpohl Möbelwerke GmbH, subsidiary of the Swedish Nobia Group, has a high export share of over 70 % and is a global brand with a market presence in over 60 countries. Poggenpohl is very well positioned in the Arab world of the Middle East and works in every Gulf state with its own import partners.
The company is currently supplying a number of large-scale construction projects in the Gulf region with luxury kitchens from East Westphalia. A sizeable contract has just been signed for supplying the newly constructed “Flame Tree Ridge” villa quarter in the Jumeirah Golf Estates development. Poggenpohl will be equipping 300 of the generously appointed villas with luxury kitchens.
