Federal regulators have been working on creating an alert system that could be sent through text messages to cell phones all across the nation. This week they have finally approved that plan. They have chosen to send the alert through text messages because it has become a popular thing among people.

Google is a useful tool when it comes to the variety of things that we can use it for when it comes to the World Wide Web. They are stepping up this game even more by offering to host certain Web apps on its infrastructure through the use of their new App Engine. App Engine for developers is going to be competing with Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud and Salesforce’s Appexchange. It seems that the competition may all go to Google for the fact that all of the basic services offered by Google are absolutely free.
