It looks like Microsoft is back under the microscope – but this time by Europe’s new antitrust investigators. The European Commission believes that the company may be violating monopoly laws by failing to make its products interoperable with competitors’ offerings and by illegally bundling its Internet Explorer Web browser with the Windows operating system.
“The initiation of proceedings does not imply that the Commission has proof of an infringement. It only signifies that the Commission will further investigate the case as a matter of priority,” the EC said.
Napster has organized its resolutions for 2008 and it looks like its going to put a smile on our face as well as theirs. They are going to be creating all of the songs that they offer on their PC service and formatting them into MP3 files. All of the albums and single tracks will be exclusive to MP3 format – which can be uploaded onto any MP3 player iPod, and even the iPhone.
With 2007 being over and 2008 just starting the Identify Theft Resource Center felt that it was time to gather all of the statistics and see how well or bad they had done when it came to preventing any and all computer breaches. After putting all of the information together it seems that 2006 was a much better year compared to 2007. The amount of public breaches increased 40%. The number of breaches in 2006 was 315. In 2007 that number rose to 443.
