Google LogoJust a few months before Apple has been scheduled to launch its much anticipated iPhone to U.S. customers, search-giant Google is creating lots of news about its possible entry into the cell phone business. Google has already launched a number of applications for mobile devices, offering both search capabilities and mapping services for cell phones. But the company has not yet dipped its toe in the increasingly competitive mobile device market, at least not officially at this time.

VOIP LogoVoice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a method that is used for taking analog audio signals. It is much like what you would hear when you talk on the phone. With VOIP they are turned into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet. Many people have never heard of this system and the use for it.

VOIP is able to turn a standard Internet connection into a way to place free phone calls. The great thing about this is that by using some of the free VoIP software that is available to make Internet phone calls, you are bypassing the phone company, and anything they will charge.

SatelliteToday is the day that the first of three new British satellites, which have been destined to become the backbone for high-speed communications for its military and its allies was launched. Skynet 5 was boosted into orbit by an Ariane 5-ECA rocket, which will take roughly a week to achieve its final geostationary orbit.

“We’ve already received telemetry from it. In fact, we had a ground station see it just 10 minutes after separation. We’ve even sent commands to Skynet. It’s behaving itself perfectly,” said Skynet lead developer Patrick Wood. “Skynet’s going to provide five times the capacity that the previous system provided, and allow the military to do things they just haven’t been able to do in the past.”
